The Road to the World Cup

Understanding World Cup Points

There are two Show Jumping World Cup leagues in the United States – the East Coast League (USEF Zones 1-7) and the West Coast League (USEF Zones 8-12). When a rider competes in a World Cup Qualifier the points earned go towards the league in which they live. It is possible to compete in the opposite league and receive “cross-over” points but this may only be done for a total of three competitions. Horses can compete in no more than three consecutive Qualifiers.

The United States sends a total of 24 riders to the World Cup Final which will be in Gothenburg, Sweden April 2009. There may be up to 36 Qualifiers held in North America (USA and Canada). The East Coast and West Coast leagues may each host up to 12 events respectively. 

Points are awarded to the top 16 riders. If less then 16 riders start the initial course then the point values for each place go down. The point values are as follows:
